Jake Arranaga Newborn Photography Session

I met baby Jake for the first time on a beautiful sunny California day in October. It feels like it was just yesterday that I was here for his older brother Rj’s in-home newborn photography session. But here we are two years later…

I walked into Kimmy and Bobby’s house and was immediately greeted by their beautiful dog Harley and a very curious little two year old. It was a familiar feeling being back in the Arranaga household and I love being able to photograph their next chapter of parenthood.

When dealing with a two year old and a baby it is best to start with the family photographs. It definitely is more work to get a two year old to sit still and smile for the photos than it is to pose a newborn. I will tell you the parents are always the secret weapons in getting those authentic expressions. Just imagine grandma, mom and dad standing behind me at one point making funny faces. Yes, family knows the best ways to get their kids to smile.

No family photograph is complete without adding in the furbaby. I don’t know if it’s just my complete obsession with dogs but I really think Harley makes this photograph a million times better. Thank you to grandma who stood behind me with treats to make this possible.

After the family photographs, I switched my attention to the solo newborn photos of Jake. Jake is a dream baby who slept for the entire session. Jake happily allowed me to work through my newborn beanbag and basket set up without getting fussy. October is considered Fall and to emphasize the season I added some colored leaves and mini pumpkins.
